WHAT IS A NETWORK SECURITY KEY?

A network security key is the password/passphrase/key that is used to add new devices, such as a tablet or laptop, to the network.

HOW TO CHANGE THE SECURITY KEY ON YOUR ROUTER

The easiest way to begin is to change the security key for your router. After this is accomplished, you will have to change the key on all the devices that connect to this router.

  •  Log into the administration area of the router. This is accomplished by typing the router’s IP address in your web browser and then entering in your router’s administrator username and password.
  • Find the wireless security settings page for your router and look for the passphrase setting. It might be named “Security Key” or something similar. Then simply enter a new secure password. At a minimum, you should use both letters and numbers in your password for security purposes.
